Medical Surgical Nursing
Medical Surgical Nursing is a Nursing specialty area concerned with the care of Adult and Geriatric Patients in a broad range of settings. The students are posted for training in Parent Hospital- inpatient and outpatient areas of P.I.M.S such as Medical, Surgical, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, Derm, Plastic Surgery & Burns, Chest medicine, Ophthalmic wards, OPD’s, Operation theatres, Emergency, ICU and other Critical care areas. Students also visit other Hospitals to fulfill their learning needs.
Students also participate in the important health days like World Cancer Day, Eye donation Fortnight, World Asthma day, AIDS awareness day, TB awareness day, World Hypertension day, Kidney day, by performing Role play, Rally, Poster presentation, mass health education, etc. to create awareness to the patients and public. Periodical Continuing Nursing Education Programmes are conducted relevant to Medical Surgical Nursing.
VISION
The Medical Surgical Nursing department will deliver the best possible care by focusing on changing nursing practice to improve patient health through innovation in Clinical Practice, Research, and Academics.
MISSION
The Mission of Medical Surgical Nursing is to teach the students about the importance of intellectual skills and foster critical thinking abilities so that they can render quality nursing care to the patients in medical and surgical units and encourage learning as a life-long commitment.
PHILOSOPHY
It is believed that the medical surgical nursing department would prepare a critical thinking nurse who will continue to take charge of their own professional and personal growth after completing the program by demonstrating professional competencies.
