1. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

I. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. Educational Qualification: Candidates of Indian origin or overseas students who have qualified for a Master’s Degree of an accredited overseas university securing a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
2. Experience: Ph.D (N) Part-Time (Internal): Candidates working in College of Nursing recognized by Pondicherry University with at least three years of continuous teaching/clinical experience after post-graduate level.
   • Ph.D (N) Part-time (External): Candidates working in College of Nursing with at least three years of continuous teaching/Clinical experience after post-graduate level.
3. Publications: Published, at least, two papers in UGC approved journals
4. Relaxation of marks: A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade is allowed for those belonging to SC/ST.
5. State Nursing Council Registration: The candidates should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with any state Nursing Registration Council.

III. APPLICATION PROCEDURE AND ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

• Application form to be submitted online through the University Website www.pondiuni.edu.in in the month of April every year.
• The payment of application fees shall be through online mode. However, take a print out of the online application form and forward the same to : The Assistant Registrar(Academic-Admissions) Pondicherry University R.V. Nagar, Kalapet,Pondicherry-605 014

IV. HALL TICKET

The Hall Ticket will be uploaded by the Pondicherry University after closing of application registration. The candidate must download his/her hall ticket and produce at the examination centre.

VI. INTERVIEW

1. The candidate would be required to give a seminar before the Admission Committee on the proposed topic of research.
2. All the Ph.D. Applicants called for interview should submit at the time of interview, a clear written proposal of the research to be conducted, giving sufficient back-ground material and the proposed line of research

1. MODE OF ADMISSION (FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME)

   
   The admission to the Ph.D(N) Programmes shall be made as per the following criteria: Entrance Exam - 70 % and Personal Interview &
   Academic Record - 30 %

2. DURATION OF THE COURSE AND COURSE OF STUDY

   
   A candidate can register for Ph.D. course on Full Time or Part Time basis.
   • Full Time : Three - Five years
   • Part Time : Three - Six years

3. MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION:

   
   English shall be the medium of instruction for all the subjects of study and for examination of the Course.

4. PRE Ph.D MEHODLOGY EXAMINATION

   
   A Ph.D Candidate shall, after the completion of the one year of Provisional registration take examination consisting of at least three written papers of 3 hours of duration each with the maximum marks of 100 of each paper
   
   
   1. Paper -I shall be on Research Methodology,Paper – II shall be on Nursing Science and Theory Development including Nursing Leadership and the Area of Study/Research and Paper-III shall be on Research and Publication Ethics.
   2. The passing minimum for each of the papers shall be 55% marks.
   3. A candidate if fails in the written examination may be permitted to reappear for the examination but not for more than three including first attempt. A candidate who fails in third attempt shall not be permitted to continue and the provisional registration shall be cancelled.
